Third Annual Silicon Valley Jazz Festival
MENLO PARK, California – The Silicon Valley Jazz Festival proudly announces trumpet master Carl Saunders as its headliner for its third annual event, to be held at Fremont Park in Menlo Park on Saturday and Sunday, October 12 and 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Saunders, who has worked with such luminaries as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Buddy Rich and Stan Kenton, will perform on Saturday, October 12, at 3 p.m.
Also appearing at the festival will be a dizzying array of outstanding jazz groups, including Octobop, the Dave Miller Trio with singer Rebecca DuMaine, Teresa Bleux and Bleux Chemistry, the Pascal Bokar Afro Blue Grazz Band and the Scott Dailey Trio with vocalist Bernadette Soubirou. Recent albums by Octobop and the Dave Miller and Pascal Bokar groups are currently receiving significant airplay worldwide.
In keeping with its mission to promote jazz education, the festival will also feature jazz ensembles from numerous local schools. As part of the festival, free clinics, instrumental demonstrations and concerts by renowned jazz artists are presented at local middle schools, high schools and colleges. The festival additionally creates opportunities for school groups to perform at local jazz clubs such as Savanna Jazz in San Carlos. Past festival headliners who have appeared at local schools and colleges include pianist Donald Brown and trumpeter Jon Faddis.
