Name: MPC Ready Community Meeting
Date: February 26, 2022
Time: 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM PST
Event Description:
Dear Disaster Preparedness Advocates, Colleagues and Government Partners,
Please join us at our next monthly community meeting. Our standing community meetings are the fourth Saturday of each month from 9-10 a.m. We are also busy adding content to the website, which includes a page (under Resources) on Social Capital research. Social capital plays a key role in a community's overall resilience during and after a disaster. It's the evidence-based approach for community-based organizations such as MPC Ready. After a disaster, the neighbors will be the first people that we will see! We want residents to know their neighbors and to have a plan to work together during the immediate hours and days following a disaster, to increase neighborhood resiliency.
Sat, February 26 from 9 to 10 am --  Panel Discussion
Please join us Saturday, Feb 26 (9 to 10 am) to hear from a panel of District 3 block and neighborhood coordinators. In a moderated discussion, they will share why they got involved, discuss what has worked well or not, and answer questions from the audience. We also welcome special guest Jen Wolosin, City of Menlo Park Vice Mayor and District 3 Council representative. Vice Mayor Wolosin was also the first MPC Ready Area 20 Coordinator.
Optional MPC Ready update & Focus Group Discussion from 10 to 11 am - on Feb 26 following the Panel Discussion
After the panel, we will hear a brief update into MPC Ready's structure, training and possible events and activities followed by a focus group discussion. We welcome your ideas, thoughts, suggestions and concerns as we think about how to approach this year. We also invite you to participate with us at the organizational level. You don't have to be a block or neighborhood coordinator to help us! Those staying will be entered into a drawing for a prize!
